The Pakistan-Specific Guide and Service
Your EIN covers your LLC. Your ITIN covers you. Without it, Amazon freezes your payouts – and every day without it is a day your investment sits idle.
Think about what you have already put in: the LLC formation, the inventory, the seller account setup. An incomplete tax interview does not just pause your payouts. It puts everything at risk of permanent account deactivation. One missing document. One wrong form code. One “Incomplete Tax Interview” status – and Amazon is legally required to withhold 30% of your gross sales. Not your profit. Your gross sales. For most sellers, that wipes out the entire margin.
Thousands of Pakistani entrepreneurs have hit this exact wall. They set up their US LLC, got their EIN, and then Amazon’s tax interview started rejecting them. Stripe would not verify. The advice they found online was written for US residents – not for sellers in Karachi, Lahore, or Dubai. We have processed 500+ ITIN applications for Pakistani and NRP sellers. Our CAA-assisted process means your original passport never leaves your hands. This is what accurate, scam-free ITIN support actually looks like.
What makes us different
You registered your Delaware LLC. Got your Employer Identification Number. Listed your products on Amazon FBA. Then Amazon’s tax interview stopped you cold – asking for a tax ID that is not your EIN, requiring documents you are not sure how to certify, and throwing back error messages that make no sense no matter how many times you read them.
Amazon Tax Interview Is Stuck or Showing Incomplete Status
Your tax interview keeps throwing errors or showing incomplete status – even after multiple attempts. The result? Amazon is withholding 30% of your gross sales until it gets resolved.
You Got an IRS Notice CP565 With No Idea What It Means
You received an IRS notice – CP565 or something similar – and have no idea what it means or what you are supposed to do with it next.
You Filed Form W-7 and Got a Rejection With No Explanation
You filed Form W-7 once already and got a rejection back – with zero useful explanation of what actually went wrong or how to fix it.
You Paid a Service That Sent Wrong Documents and Disappeared
You paid someone to handle your ITIN and they sent you incorrect documents, then stopped picking up calls. Sound familiar?
Fear of Triggering IRS Penalties Without Realizing
You are scared of accidentally triggering IRS penalties – including the $25,000 Form 5472 penalty that hits even when no tax is owed and the LLC had zero transactions.
Stripe, PayPal, and US Banking All Blocked
You cannot get into Stripe, PayPal, or a US business bank account because your tax ID situation is still unresolved – blocking your entire payment infrastructure.
Most of the information online is written for US residents. It does not account for Pakistani-specific situations at all – like how to certify your passport without mailing the original to the IRS, or how to apply when you are based abroad and have never filed a US tax return. Generic IRS instructions tend to leave you more confused than before you started.
Cannot tell legitimate ITIN services from scams when browsing Facebook groups and forums
Advice written for US residents – ignores Karachi, Lahore, and Dubai-based seller realities
No clear guidance on which exception sub-code actually applies to Amazon sellers – the single most common rejection cause
Passport mailing risks for NRPs in Dubai, UK, or Canada – losing access for 3-6 months is not an option
This section covers the most important distinction in US tax compliance for non-resident Amazon sellers: the difference between an EIN and an ITIN, why both are necessary, and how the structure of your LLC affects your obligations as the individual owner.
An ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) is a tax processing number issued by the IRS to individuals who are not eligible for a Social Security Number. It identifies you personally – not your business. For non-resident Amazon sellers with a US LLC, the ITIN is what lets you complete Amazon’s mandatory tax interview, claim treaty benefits via Form W-8BEN, and satisfy IRS reporting requirements as the owner of a foreign-owned disregarded entity.
An EIN (Employer Identification Number) is your LLC’s tax ID. It belongs to the business, not to you. Amazon requires both: the EIN to register the business, and the ITIN to identify and process you as the non-resident owner during the tax interview. Neither one replaces the other – they serve entirely different purposes in the US tax system.
EIN vs ITIN – At a Glance
| Attribute | EIN Employer Identification Number | ITIN Individual Taxpayer ID Number |
|---|---|---|
| What it identifies | Your LLC (the business) | You personally (the owner) |
| Who issues it | IRS | IRS |
| Who needs it | The LLC | Non-resident owners without a Social Security Number |
| Used for | Business tax filings, opening a business bank account | Amazon tax interview, W-8BEN, Form 5472 owner identification |
| Can it replace the other? | No | No |
A single-member LLC is treated by the IRS as a “disregarded entity.” The IRS does not recognize it as a separate taxpayer – it looks straight through the LLC to you, the individual owner. That is why having an EIN for your LLC is not enough. For tax purposes, the IRS needs to identify you personally, and that requires your ITIN. When Amazon runs its tax interview, it is essentially asking: who is the actual human behind this LLC? Without an ITIN, you cannot answer that in a way the IRS will accept.
The United States and Pakistan have an active tax treaty. For Pakistani Amazon sellers, this matters quite a lot. The standard US withholding rate on certain US-sourced income is 30% – and it is worth being clear about what that means in practice. Amazon does not withhold 30% of your profit. It withholds 30% of your gross sales proceeds. On standard Amazon FBA margins, that wipes out the entire margin and pushes the business into a loss. This is not a theoretical risk. It is the default position Amazon takes when a valid tax ID is not on file.
By properly filing Form W-8BEN using your ITIN and claiming treaty benefits, most Pakistani sellers can reduce that withholding rate to zero – provided their income qualifies as Non-ECI (not effectively connected to a US trade or business). Without an ITIN, you cannot claim these benefits.
Income from Amazon FBA, for a non-resident seller with no physical presence or permanent establishment in the United States, is generally Non-ECI. That means you likely owe no US income tax – but you need the correct documentation in place to prove it. The ITIN is your legal protection against both the 30% US withholding and any risk of double taxation between the IRS and Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue. With the correct treaty claim in place, you are not paying tax twice on the same income.
This section explains every stage of our ITIN service from first contact to post-issuance support. You will know exactly what happens, what we handle, and what you need to provide at each step.
We start with a free consultation to confirm whether you need an ITIN, which IRS exception applies to your specific situation, and whether any prior application history affects your case. Not every seller’s situation is the same – a seller in Karachi setting up a Delaware LLC for FBA has different considerations than an NRP in Dubai managing an existing US entity. We look at your situation before we touch a single document.
We walk you through gathering the required documents. These typically include your valid passport (which we certify – not mail), your LLC formation documents, your Amazon seller account information, and your reason for applying for the ITIN. We give you a complete checklist so nothing gets missed before we begin.
Form W-7 is the IRS application form for an ITIN. It has a critical field called the “exception code” – this tells the IRS why you are applying without filing a US tax return. There are five exception categories, and within each there are sub-codes. Amazon sellers with passive income subject to treaty benefits typically qualify under Exception 1(d) – not the more generic Exception 1(a) that many services default to without thinking.
A Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA) is an individual or entity authorized by the IRS to review, authenticate, and certify identity documents on behalf of ITIN applicants. This is the most important step for overseas applicants. Without a CAA, you would have to mail your original passport to the IRS – a process that takes weeks, carries real risk of loss, and leaves you without your passport the entire time. With our CAA-assisted process, your passport is certified locally. It never leaves your hands. It is never mailed to the IRS or to us.
Once the form is prepared and passport certification is complete, we submit your application to the IRS with all required supporting documents. We track the status and keep you updated throughout. You are never left wondering where your application stands.
When your ITIN arrives, we walk you through what comes next: completing Amazon’s tax interview correctly, filing Form W-8BEN to claim your treaty benefits, and understanding your annual Form 5472 reporting requirement. Your ITIN is not just a number – it is the foundation of your US business identity.
There is no expedited processing for overseas ITIN applicants. Any service claiming same-day, one-week, or instant ITIN processing is operating outside IRS guidelines. A rejected application requires full resubmission and resets the clock entirely. We give you accurate expectations from day one.
Here is what an ITIN – properly obtained and correctly used – actually unlocks for Pakistani and NRP Amazon sellers.
You will be able to complete Amazon’s mandatory tax interview with a valid US tax ID. The withholding stops. Your disbursements flow normally to your linked bank account.
You file Form W-8BEN using your ITIN and claim your benefits under the Pakistan-US tax treaty. For most non-resident Pakistani sellers with Non-ECI income, this brings your effective US withholding rate to zero – legally and permanently, as long as your status does not change.
You will have a recognized US tax identification number that satisfies the tax interview requirements of PayPal, Stripe, Payoneer, eBay, Etsy, and most other US-based platforms. No more failed verifications. No more withheld payments going nowhere.
As the foreign owner of a US single-member LLC, you are required to file Form 5472 every year – even when no tax is owed and even when the LLC had zero transactions. Failure to file carries a $25,000 penalty per year per form. You will understand this obligation, know what it requires, and be equipped to stay compliant.
Your ITIN supports applications for a US business bank account and is the first step toward building a US credit history. For NRPs planning to grow long-term, an ITIN eventually opens access to US business credit cards – including products from American Express and Chase – and strengthens your profile for E-1 and E-2 investor visa consideration.
The entire process happens without you surrendering your passport to anyone. Our CAA-assisted certification means your document is reviewed, authenticated, and certified locally – securely, in person, without delay.
Ahmed set up his Delaware LLC and applied for his EIN on his own without much trouble. But Amazon’s tax interview kept returning errors, and he had no ITIN. He came to us, went through the free consultation, and submitted his W-7 through our CAA process. His ITIN was issued in 9 weeks. He passed Amazon’s tax interview on the first attempt, filed Form W-8BEN to claim his treaty benefits, and was receiving uninterrupted payouts within days of completing the tax interview. From consultation to active seller status – under 60 days.
Here is exactly what you get – no vague promises, no surprises.
Everything included
If a previous ITIN application was filed on your behalf – correctly or not – we will look at what was submitted and tell you exactly what needs to be corrected before we proceed. Catching an error early costs far less than dealing with an IRS rejection or penalty later.
If you are thinking about handling your ITIN application yourself or through a low-cost generic service, read this first.
There is no such thing as an instant ITIN. Any service promising same-day or one-week ITIN processing for overseas applicants is operating outside IRS guidelines. The minimum processing time for a correctly filed application is 7 weeks. Do not pay for a guarantee no service can legally deliver.
Three packages built around where you are in the process and how much support you need.
All packages include CAA passport certification – your original passport never leaves Pakistan. Not sure which package fits your situation? Book a free call. We will guide you to the right option without any pressure.
This NRP needed an ITIN for Amazon, eBay seller verification, and Stripe account compliance. He was specifically worried about mailing his UAE-stamped Pakistani passport internationally and had already refused to proceed with any service that required it.
We confirmed his eligibility, completed CAA certification locally through our verified partner network – no passport mailed anywhere – and submitted a correctly prepared W-7 with all required documentation.
ITIN received. All three platforms – Amazon, eBay, and Stripe – verified using the ITIN. His passport never left his hands at any point.
This seller had paid a low-cost online service to file his ITIN application. It was rejected due to an incorrect exception code. He came to us frustrated – he had already lost time and money, and was worried a second rejection might cause further complications down the line.
We did a full review of the rejected application, identified the error, prepared a corrected Form W-7 with the appropriate exception code, and completed CAA passport certification before resubmission.
ITIN approved on the corrected submission. Amazon tax interview completed. Seller is now receiving regular disbursements.
“I was terrified of mailing my passport to the IRS. A friend told me it could take months to come back. The CAA process completely removed that fear – my passport was certified locally and I never had to send it anywhere. My ITIN arrived in 8 weeks and I passed Amazon’s tax interview the same week.”
“I had already wasted money on a service that filed my W-7 with the wrong exception code. When I came here, they identified the mistake immediately, explained exactly what went wrong, and resubmitted correctly. This time it was approved. I wish I had found them first.”
“Living in Dubai, I was not sure how to get my ITIN sorted from outside Pakistan. They handled everything – the CAA certification, the W-7, the submission. No confusion, no chasing. I also got my Stripe and PayPal verified using the same ITIN. Highly recommend for NRPs.”
“The free consultation made everything clear. I did not know the difference between my EIN and what Amazon was asking for. Within 15 minutes I understood the issue and knew exactly what to do next. The whole process was straightforward and the support after getting my ITIN was genuinely useful.”
“What I appreciated most was the transparency. They showed me every document before it went to the IRS. Nothing was submitted without my review. That level of honesty is rare and it made me feel completely confident in the process.”
“I had read so many horror stories about ITIN scams in Pakistani Facebook groups. I was skeptical of every service out there. What convinced me here was the CAA certification – that is an IRS-recognized credential you cannot fake. The process was professional from start to finish.”
No. The EIN belongs to your LLC – it identifies the business entity. The ITIN identifies you personally as the non-resident owner. Amazon’s tax interview requires the ITIN to confirm who is actually behind the LLC. The IRS requires it for owner-level reporting on disregarded entities. They serve completely different purposes and neither one replaces the other.
You are probably right – and that is exactly why the ITIN and proper W-8BEN filing matter. By establishing your non-US tax status through the correct documentation, you protect yourself from the automatic 30% withholding that Amazon applies when there is no valid tax ID on file. The ITIN is not what triggers US tax liability. It is the tool that proves you are exempt from it.
You can try. The IRS makes Form W-7 publicly available. But the rejection rate for incorrectly filed non-resident W-7 applications is significantly higher than for professionally prepared ones. The most common mistake – picking the wrong exception sub-code – is invisible to most applicants because the IRS instructions do not explain which sub-code actually applies to Amazon sellers. A rejection resets your entire timeline, may require you to recollect and recertify documents, and keeps your Amazon payouts frozen longer. And if you mailed your original passport with a rejected application, you have to resubmit it again – extending the window during which you cannot travel. The cost of getting it wrong is almost always higher than the cost of doing it right the first time.
If you are a foreign national who owns a US single-member LLC, you almost certainly need to file Form 5472 every year – even if the LLC had no transactions and even when no tax is owed. It is an informational return, not a tax payment, but non-compliance carries a $25,000 penalty per year per form. We include a Form 5472 awareness briefing in our Standard and Complete packages so you know your obligations before they become a problem.
Standard processing is 7 weeks. During peak season – January through April – it extends to 9-11 weeks. These timelines are for correctly filed applications. A rejected application requires full resubmission and resets the clock entirely. We give you accurate timelines from the start so you can plan your Amazon launch properly.
You do not share your passport with us and you do not mail it to the IRS. Our Certified Acceptance Agent process means your passport is reviewed and certified locally – through an IRS-authorized verification process – and only a certified copy is submitted with your application. Your original stays in your hands the whole time.
If you have a question not answered here,
Our ITIN service is built for Amazon FBA sellers – but an ITIN is relevant across a wide range of US business and platform contexts.
The ITIN is the single piece of documentation that unlocks your entire Amazon seller operation. Without it, your tax interview stays incomplete, your disbursements stay frozen, and Amazon withholds 30% of your gross sales – not your profit, your gross sales. This is the primary use case our service is built around.
Complete the tax interview – pass Amazon’s mandatory identity and tax verification
Unlock your payouts – stop the freeze, start receiving disbursements
Claim treaty benefits – file W-8BEN and reduce your withholding to 0%
Whether you sell on Amazon or invoice US clients directly, our ITIN service applies.
If your ITIN application is rejected by the IRS due to an error we made in preparing your W-7 or supporting documents, we will correct and refile at no additional cost. We stand behind our work.
You see every document before anything goes to the IRS. Nothing is submitted without your review and approval. You will always know exactly what is being sent and why.
Your original passport never leaves your possession. Our CAA-assisted certification process is the only one we use. We do not accept applications that require passport mailing.
We cannot guarantee IRS approval – that decision belongs to the IRS alone. What we can guarantee is that your application will be prepared correctly, certified properly, and submitted with complete and accurate supporting documentation. Our 98% first-attempt approval rate is a result of that commitment, not a promise we can make on behalf of the IRS.

Yes. If you are a Pakistani national or Non-Resident Pakistani who owns a US LLC and sells on Amazon, you need an ITIN to complete Amazon’s mandatory tax interview, identify yourself as the non-resident owner of a disregarded entity, and claim treaty benefits via Form W-8BEN. Your EIN identifies your LLC – it does not identify you personally.
Yes, and this trips up a lot of sellers. The EIN belongs to your LLC and identifies the business entity for federal tax purposes. The ITIN identifies you personally as the non-resident owner. Amazon’s tax interview requires the ITIN – not the EIN – to process your account. You need both, and neither one replaces the other.
The EIN is issued to the LLC itself. The ITIN is issued to the individual owner who does not have a US Social Security Number. For a single-member LLC owned by a non-resident Pakistani seller, the LLC is treated as a disregarded entity – meaning the IRS looks straight through the business to you as the individual. That is why the IRS needs the ITIN for owner-level identification and reporting.
Standard processing is 7 weeks. January through April is peak season, when the IRS handles significantly higher application volumes – timelines stretch to 9-11 weeks during that period. There is no expedited processing available for overseas applicants. With CAA-assisted passport certification, there is no additional delay from the document authentication step. One important thing: a rejected application requires full resubmission and resets the clock entirely.
Through a Certified Acceptance Agent. A CAA is authorized by the IRS to review and certify identity documents on behalf of ITIN applicants. The CAA verifies your original passport in person, creates a certified copy, and submits that copy with your W-7 application. Your original passport never leaves Pakistan and is never mailed to the IRS.
Not necessarily. If your Amazon FBA income is Non-ECI – meaning it is not effectively connected to a US trade or business – and you have no physical presence or permanent establishment in the United States, you generally owe no US income tax. Under the Pakistan-US tax treaty, Pakistani sellers can typically reduce the standard 30% withholding rate to zero by filing Form W-8BEN. The ITIN is what protects you from it – it does not create tax liability.
Yes. The ITIN is the tax identification number Amazon requires from non-resident sellers who do not have a US Social Security Number. Once you have it, you enter it into Amazon’s tax interview along with your Form W-8BEN information. This completes the interview, confirms your foreign status, and allows Amazon to release your seller payouts.
The ITIN is your personal US tax identification number – a number the IRS uses to identify you. Form W-8BEN is a document you submit to Amazon that certifies you are a foreign person, claims your treaty benefits, and requires your ITIN to be processed correctly. Think of the ITIN as the identifier and the W-8BEN as the form that uses it. You need both to complete Amazon’s tax interview as a non-resident seller.
Form 5472 is an annual informational return required by the IRS for foreign-owned US single-member LLCs. If you are a Pakistani national or NRP who owns a US LLC, you almost certainly need to file this every year – regardless of whether the LLC had any transactions and regardless of whether any tax is owed. Failure to file carries a $25,000 penalty per year per form. It is not optional and the IRS has increased enforcement in recent years.
A CAA is an individual or entity authorized by the IRS to assist applicants with ITIN applications, review original identity documents, and certify copies for submission. Using a CAA means you do not have to mail your original passport to the IRS. The CAA’s certification is accepted by the IRS in place of the original document – it is the safest and most efficient method for overseas applicants.
The exception on Form W-7 tells the IRS why you are applying for an ITIN without attaching a US federal tax return. There are five exception categories, each with specific sub-codes. Amazon sellers with passive income subject to Pakistan-US treaty benefits typically qualify under Exception 1(d) – not the generic Exception 1(a) that many services default to. Using the wrong sub-code is one of the most common causes of IRS rejection, and it is not at all obvious from the form instructions alone.
IRS Notice CP565 is the letter confirming that an ITIN has been assigned to you. If you have received this notice, your ITIN has been issued. Use the number shown on the notice to complete your Amazon tax interview, file Form W-8BEN, and update your platform tax records. If you received a different notice or yours references an issue with your application, contact us – we can review it and tell you what needs to happen next.
Yes. An ITIN is recognized by many US financial institutions as a valid tax identification number for account opening and credit applications. Once you have an ITIN and an established US business bank account, you can start building a US credit profile. Over time, this can open access to US business credit products – including cards from American Express and Chase – which is a meaningful goal for NRPs looking to grow their US business presence.
The IRS imposes a $25,000 penalty per year per form for failure to file Form 5472 when it is required. This applies even if the LLC had zero transactions and even when no tax is owed. Enforcement has increased in recent years. If you own a foreign-owned single-member US LLC, filing Form 5472 annually is simply not optional.
